Just looking through possible places to stay… the options are either guest rooms (¥56,000 p/month) or dormitory (¥39,000). As for guest houses, this one in Asakusa looks quite promising: free internet, cable TV, former ryokan, good location, ¥56,000 a month. There’s also a similar one in Itabashi-ku but it looks a bit out of the way.

Dorms: there’s one in Sendagaya which seems quite nice, and only ¥39,000 a month.

Or I can share a guest room for ¥45,000: there’s Sendagaya again, but also the rather ginormous Oomori or Asakusa-Kuramae.

Tough choice. For sheer cheapness, it’s hard to argue with the dormitories, I suppose.
