Things I have noticed in Japan:

1) No one crosses unless the green man shows up.

2) Everyone assumes you speak fluent Japanese.

3) There was another one, but I can’t remember it.

Bit of a pointless day this, but meh. Got up early, went down to Sendakaji to find this “Yamaha English School”. It turns out that Yamaha is the Yamaha of music instrument fame. Can’t find it. Look for ages. Phone contact number. Absolutely nowhere to be seen.

Nuts.

So, to Motoyawata for e-mix, another English school. Find it this time. Go up the narrow stairs. Not open.

Nuts.

So, uh, I guess I’ll either give up, or phone them later.

I picked up a copy of Metropolis, the English-language free magazine, which is great. Classifieds for rooms and jobs and all that. Also, some parties going on tonight. Might head down to Shinjuku or something.

Bought highly expensive hair gel.

I’m also pleasedĀ  at how my kanji knowledge is progressing. Because I have to recognise kanji to get around by train, I find I’m learning place names pretty well. Today I found my way back to the hotel by looking at a sign entirely in kanji.
