I think my last days in Tokyo have been driven by basically doing all the things which I’d kick myself for later if I didn’t do them. So I went to Nikko, and played the Gundam thing, and bought Densha de Go! Final, and after all that how could I not ride the Thunder Dolphin?

Ikebukuro Eisenhower
November 24th, 2007 · No Comments
It’s a interesting moral dilemma. There’s Japan, where I’ve had some of the most unique, bizarre, thought-provoking, fascinating experiences I’ve ever had. Like last night, walking through Nishiguchi Park in Ikebukuro and hearing singing; before coming across a group of six people standing in a group in the dark singing a capella for no discernible [...]

Akihabara, Gundam
November 23rd, 2007 · No Comments
Today seemed like a good day to visit Akihabara. Again. Visited this tiny PC shop again, which has such tempting prices: a 21.6 HannsG monitor with HDMI for £130. But then how would I get it home?
Onwards to this nifty otaku shoppe where I bought a NERV t-shirt which is Highly Awesome.
Also, I’d decided I’d [...]

Zarathustra answered: “I love mankind.”
“Why,” said the saint, “did I go into the forest and the desert? Was it not because I loved mankind far too well? Now I love God! Mankind I do not love; mankind is a thing too imperfect for me. Love of mankind would be fatal to me.”

Nikko update
November 20th, 2007 · No Comments
I was going to have a leisurely nighttime stroll, but I cut that plan short for the simple fact it’s horribly cold out there. So I stocked up on food from the 7-11 and retired to my room.
Japanese dubbed Doctor Who (Ninth Doctor, by the way). Of course.
They have hot spring baths here. Awesome.

Live from Nikko
November 20th, 2007 · 3 Comments
I’m only just finding out what exactly NaNoWriMo is, and there’s only 10 days left. Oh well.
So this is coming live from Nikko, a place where I miraculously managed to avoid dying horribly by falling down a mountain or getting lost and starving to death. More on that story later.

Nakano
November 19th, 2007 · No Comments
With nothing better to do, I went to Nakano today. Ah, Broadway Arcade. Best place for shopping in Tokyo, says I. Got a belt (at long last) from Uniqlo, went to an arcade and played Guitar Freaks (verdict: identical to Guitar Hero, though perhaps a tad more difficult because I’m not used to it), an [...]
